Trend Micro, a leader in network anti-virus and Internet content security software and services, with headquarters in Tokyo, is a recipient of a 2007 Rising Star award, placing it among the fastest-growing software manufacturers operating in the US.
SecureData, Africa's largest IT security group, is the sole distributor of Trend Micro products in SA and throughout Africa. Dean Healy, the newly-appointed Product Manager for Trend Micro, states that this award signifies Trend Micro's commitment to the channel.
Trend Micro received the accolade in Cupertino, California earlier this month. The Rising Star awards are presented by the Global Technology Distribution Council (GTDC) in recognition of the IT industry's fastest-growing manufacturers and publishers doing business with GTDC member distributors.
The winners are selected based on US revenue growth over the past year, as reported by industry research organisation, the NPD Group, in its Distributor TrackSM service. GTDC distributor members provide products and services to solution providers and resellers supporting end-users of all sizes. GTDC members represent more than $100 billion in annual worldwide sales. Trend Micro received an honourable mention award in the category for companies generating sales revenue of between $100 million and $500 million. "It takes more than being in a high-growth market segment to receive a Rising Star award," said Tim Curran, CEO of the GTDC. "Trend Micro has demonstrated that it is an exceptional business partner to distributors and the reseller channel. Their success reflects the quality of their products and brand as well as strong commitment on every level."
Nancy Reynolds, Trend Micro vice-president of channel sales and marketing, said the award acknowledged the growth the company had experienced through its commitment to delivering the highest quality computer security products to the reseller channel.
"By design, the double-digit growth we saw in second quarter supports the channel strategy that we implemented at the beginning of the year," she said.
