Trend Micro ScanMail for Microsoft Exchange wins 2005 Readers' Choice Award from Windows IT Pro

Johannesburg, 06 Sep 2005

SecureData, a member of the JSE-listed ERP.com Group, and the southern African distributor for Trend Micro security software, today announced that the latter's Trend Micro ScanMail for Microsoft Exchange was named a winner in the Antivirus/Mail Server category of the 2005 Windows IT Pro Readers' Choice Awards.

Kim Paulsen, group publisher of Penton Media's Windows IT Pro Group, announced the winners of the fourth-annual contest on 1 September.

"The Windows IT Pro Readers' Choice Awards are highly coveted in the IT industry because our readers, who are the buyers and users of these products, are the ones who choose the winners," commented Paulsen. "These awards are the ultimate acclamation an IT company can earn from its peers in the IT community."

Trend Micro ScanMail for Microsoft Exchange guards against viruses, Trojans, worms, and other malicious code hidden in e-mail attachments. By filtering inbound/outbound SMTP connector-level traffic, it blocks threats before they can enter or leave the mail server. The recently launched ScanMail for Microsoft Exchange v7.0 now features optional anti-spam and advanced content filtering technology to ensure the uninterrupted flow of e-mail traffic, in addition to its award-winning, high-performance scanning, centralised management and ease-of-use capabilities.

"Windows IT Pro readers are the most knowledgeable people in the market with regard to the best values in technology products and services," Paulsen continued. "We've done extensive research among our readers, and know that they are the ones who make the buying decisions on behalf of their organisations. The Windows IT Pro Readers' Choice Awards give IT professionals the opportunity to voice their opinions and give the leading technology companies the recognition they deserve."

Readers were asked to vote on their product preferences in 12 broad technology categories. More than 1 700 readers chose the best among more than 750 products and services.

"ScanMail for Exchange has become a market share leader in e-mail server security by offering customers an ideal combination of comprehensive network protection against the full spectrum of mail-borne malicious code and a centralised management console for easily deploying group configuration, scan settings, notifications and automatic updates -- across all Exchange servers," added Howard Price, senior product manager at Trend Micro.

"Receiving this industry-honoured Readers' Choice Award is indicative of Trend Micro's customer focus and commitment to keeping corporate networks protected."
