SecureData, a member of the JSE-listed ERP.com Group, and the southern African distributor for Trend Micro security software, today announced Network VirusWall Enforcer 1200, a second-generation network access control (NAC) appliance for the mid-market.
Network VirusWall Enforcer 1200 is designed to enable support teams to automatically require that all devices - managed or unmanaged, local or remote - comply with security policies before they're granted access to corporate networks. Designed for medium to large organisations, Network VirusWall Enforcer 1200 is ideal for smaller sites, remote offices and VPN-connected networks.
One of the first NAC appliances for mid-sized organisations, Network VirusWall Enforcer 1200 has been tuned to meet the performance needs of mid-sized businesses, and includes functionality that scans devices for security software, critical patches, and current updates.
It combines granular policy enforcement with automatic worm prevention. Many Web-based threats, including worms and bots, infect instantly upon connection to the Internet - before policy enforcement takes effect. Network VirusWall Enforcer provides immediate protection by filtering network traffic to detect and prevent such threats.
Trend Micro Network VirusWall Enforcer 1200 network access control device caters to a largely under-served and yet massive population of mid-sized business. While these businesses often lack significant IT resources, they typically require enterprise-class functionality and performance while looking to establish long-standing, strategic partnerships with technology vendors.
In fact, Trend Micro recently received the highest overall ranking among major mid-market technology vendors, according to US-based CIO's surveyed CIO Insight. The 2006 survey included three main categories--vendor value, reliability and loyalty--and elicited CIO's response to each vendor's ability to meet expectations, solve business problems, and demonstrate flexibility and responsiveness when working with their mid-market customers. Overwhelmingly, Trend Micro received high marks and was the only content security vendor within the top 10 technology companies recognised.
Part of the Network VirusWall family of appliances, Network VirusWall Enforcer 1200 is priced to meet the requirements of mid-market customers. In a 5 February network access control product round-up conducted by InfoWorld Magazine, the enterprise-class Trend Micro Network VirusWall Enforcer 2500 received the top score.
In the article, "NAC smorgasbord: Four ways to police the network", InfoWorld praised Trend Micro's Network VirusWall Enforcer 2500 for offering a comprehensive, browser-based NAC policy management interface that simplifies policy configuration and provides administrators an effortless cleanup option for end-points. InfoWorld also found Network VirusWall Enforcer's integration with active directory and LDAP to be a clear advantage, in that administrators could differentiate between authenticated and unauthenticated guests and employees in those environments.
