Trend Micro, a global leader in Internet content security, has won the Computer Reseller News Security Vendor of the Year award in the UK, one of the most sought-after awards in the industry.
The Security Vendor of the Year award from Computer Reseller News is particularly prominent within the industry as it is based on a public voting system among the IT and business community. Trend Micro was nominated among vendors such as Checkpoint, McAfee, Symantec, Webroot, Blue Coat and Fortinet but won the award based on its continued commitment to the channel with successful initiatives such as its Worry-Free SME partner programme.
"The Security Vendor of the Year category was one of the most hotly contended of them all and there was some extremely stiff competition. The number of votes was also extremely high and to win the award was no mean feat. Trend Micro polled the highest number of votes in the category by far and was a deserving winner,” comments Sara Yirrell, editor of CRN.
Over the past 12 months, Trend Micro has enhanced its global partner programme and invested in new product development to be able to offer its partners solutions that are easy to deploy, involve less hardware and ultimately have lower maintenance costs.
Bob Tarzey, analyst at Quocirca and one of the judges on the CRN panel this year, comments: “Trend Micro invests considerable time and money ensuring good relations with its partners. A strong entry meant Trend Micro easily made the shortlist and its channel commitment has clearly been a key factor in getting the reseller vote out and going on to win the 2008 Security Vendor of the year award from CRN.”
Following the launch of its new cloud-based network, Smart Protection Network, Trend Micro has started to offer partners more tools to bring to their customer base with solutions that lighten bandwidth consumption on customers' networks and offer comprehensive up-to-date protection.
Presented at the annual ceremony at Battersea Park Arena, London, the award was accepted on behalf of Trend Micro by UK and Ireland Country Manager Paul Anderson, highlighting Trend Micro's commitment to the success and profitability of its channel partners through a series of focused channel initiatives dedicated to making it easier for channel partners and customers to do business with Trend Micro.
Anthony O'Mara, VP of Trend Micro EMEA, comments: “Being singled out by channel partners as their preferred security solutions provider reaffirms that we are providing the solutions and support our partners need to both protect their customers' networks as well as grow their business. Winning this prestigious award is a great recognition of the dedication and team work that has gone into developing new product ranges, tying these into lucrative incentives and ultimately creating niches for security resellers to generate substantial margins.”
