Johannesburg, 24 Feb 2004

Participants in the ICT services industry are meeting today to discuss industry trends and the future of IT at the Computing Technology Industry Association`s (CompTIA) Breakaway 2004 event at the Kyalami Conference Centre.

"Breakaway 2004 is the only networking event that specifically addresses the ICT services industry," says Braam Venter, chairman of CompTIA`s SA Services Forum.

The Services Forum initiated today`s networking event, which is co-sponsored by Hewlett-Packard.

"Services forums provide advance intelligence for all those involved in the industry," says John Venator, visiting CompTIA CEO. "By sharing information, much can be learned from other players` successes and mistakes."

"The SA Services Forum is three years old," says Loraine Vorster, CompTIA regional director. "It is the longest running Services Forum outside the US and Canada."

Discussions at Kyalami will centre on IT services opportunities in SA, the outlook for the ICT industry in the next five years, , government tenders and skills development.

CIOs from several top ICT companies are to participate in the discussions with business owners, service and technology managers, resellers, distributors, manufacturers and solution providers.
