In an effort to combat the growing threats to data security, three organisations formed a trifecta to launch an industry-first application and information security solution coupled with a fail-proof validation, aimed at highlighting the true security status of organisations.

FutureProof implements best security practices and measures, thereby curtailing the prevalence and cost of data breach and loss. The solution comprises the expertise and Intel from Microsoft gold partner Mint Management Technologies, enterprise risk management organisation NewOrder Industries and cloud-identity and security solutions provider BUI.

"What sets this solution apart is that it covers all three areas needed for impenetrable security; infrastructure development, cloud migration and continuous security status verification and adaptation, thereby, taking organisations to current security status," states Mint Cloud, Application and Mobile Executive, Marius Burger.

FutureProof enables an understanding of the network risks faced by organisations and provides insight and methods for risk mitigation in a collaborative structure that is easy for the end user to understand, explains NewOrder Managing Director Gavin Hetherington.

"We place the human element into information security network management, building a partnership that ensures organisations are safe-proof in all areas of security and further amplified through hand holding during the remediation process," he elaborates.

Data security threats rising

The total average cost of data breach increased from $133 million in 2014 to $157 million in 2015, according to the '2015 Cost of Data Breach Study: Global Analysis' compiled by technology provider IBM.

"This highlights the dire consequences that data loss can have on a business and the importance of ensuring that best-practice security measures are in place. As technology evolves it greatly improves business efficiency but also opens organisations to new threats," warns Hetherington.

NewOrder's workforce comprises employees with a forensic background that host a practical understanding of cyber crime which, Hetherington states, enables the organisation to provide remediation to clients that is applicable and practical. "We walk a client through the various remediation phases until the organisation's network is secure."

Hetherington cautions that even a 100% security-compliant organisation is still vulnerable against a skilled human threat agent. Therefore, FutureProof allows companies to experience real-world effectiveness of existing security controls against active human attackers.

"Ensuring fail proof security in an organisation requires that all aspects are taken into account coupled with the realisation that security threats do not exist solely from outside an organisation," he adds, highlighting a survey, conducted by professional services firm Ernst & Young, that researched 1 800 organisations in 60 countries and reflected that companies saw "careless or unaware employees" as their number one vulnerability.

The report also found that 37 % of organisations have no real-time insight on cyber risks necessary to combat security threats, which further highlights the need for organisations to safeguard all aspects of security risks and compliance, Hetherington reiterates.

FutureProof

FutureProof is a breakthrough solution offering in terms of information security as it introduces South Africa's only holistic security-first solution," notes, BUI MD, Ryan Roseveare.

The solution comprises the implementation of a secure and scalable infrastructure architecture and provides hosting on the most compliant and secure platform available in the market with 99.95% uptime guarantee.

Continuous improvement to an organisation's reference architecture is provided to support more features, such as Azure, and adapt to new technologies, keeping applications current all the time.

FutureProof also offers continuous improvement of application features based on business priorities and ensures that organisations are kept up-to-date with the latest security threats, initiating continuous penetration testing to ensure all elements are covered and guaranteed to be safe.

"Safeguarding organisation data is not an option but a necessity to protect against disaster," Roseveare concludes.
