Tarsus Technologies has announced immediate availability of the CompaqDeskpro EN Slim series of desktop machines. According to Terence Barter, product manager for Compaq desktops and handhelds at Tarsus, the EN Slim series is packed into a 20% smaller case, making the machine a more elegant addition to the professional`s office.

"Space is at premium on the desk of the busy professional, and the EN Slim not only takes up less of it but also looks good," says Barter.

According to him the EN Slim series features a fully redesigned chassis with an enhanced form factor that boasts a third slot for added expandability. "A handy aspect of these new Compaq desktops is the new Intel 815i chipset and the AGP slot allowing upgrades to the high-end accelerated graphics," adds Barter.

Featuring high-end specifications, the Deskpro EN Slim series is aimed at the enterprise user. The baseline Deskpro EN Slim is equipped with a Pentium III 667Mhz processor, 10GB hard drive and 64MB RAM. At the upper end of the spectrum is a Pentium III 933Mhz with 20GB of storage and 128MB RAM. Memory is expandable to 512MB on the full range of these machines. Bus speeds between 66Mhz (Celeron processors) and 133Mhz (Pentium III Coppermine) are supported, and Windows 2000, recommended by Compaq as the operating system of choice, is supplied with the machines.

"Coupled with an optional TFT monitor, the Deskpro EN Slim series will make a very attractive addition to any corporate workstation," concludes Barter.
