Johannesburg, 12 Jun 2001

Trispen Technologies, local developer and manufacturer of the IP-Granite range of VPN products, has announced the appointment of Chris Cumming as channel manager with immediate effect. Cumming has played major roles in founding companies such as Accfin Software, LAN Vision Computers and African Communication Network (ACN).

Cumming will develop Trispen`s IP-Granite channel in SA for SMEs and corporate clients. As channel manager, he will be in charge of business development for Trispen.

"VPNs are going to play a major role in the future," says Cumming. "Companies in SA are looking for the kinds of solutions that only VPNs can provide - especially in the areas of IT risk. We are following the trends in the US and UK closely, and expect that demand will soon go through the roof. When that happens, Trispen will have an effective channel strategy in place to make sure our partners and customers can take advantage of the new opportunities."

Trispen MD Jaco Botha says Cumming brings a wealth of experience to the business. "We look forward to using Chris`s extensive knowledge of the channel and the industry to develop the VPN market in SA," he says.

Trispen`s flagship is the IP-Granite range of Virtual Private Networking products. The suite consists of cross-platform hardware and software modules that VPN-enable any infrastructure. IP-Granite has won acclaim from several leading authorities. The most recent installation has been at a government department in what is now the largest VPN in SA, spanning more than 300 sites across the country.
