Trispen Technologies, manufacturers of the IP-Granite range of security products, has released the first hardware addition to the product range. The IP-Granite V100 provides easily installed and configured virtual private networks (VPNs) over public networks and offers security for remote users accessing corporate networks over the Internet or dial-up networks.
"The IP-Granite product range implements comprehensive network security for VPN, remote access and end-to-end applications, using the Internet Protocol Security (IPsec) standard developed by Internet Engineering Task Force to secure traffic over IP networks," says Jaco Botha, CEO of Trispen Technologies.
"Companies no longer have to create additional network stubs (or sub-nets) when installing a VPN device or re-arrange the network configuration when adding security to a network. The V100 pushes the envelope in giving users affordable and simple to install network security," he adds.
The V100 is a dedicated network appliance and uses an all solid-state design for enhanced reliability. The unit connects to the network via dual Ethernet interfaces, typically between the wide area network router and the local area network. This configuration allows the encryption operations, which are processor intensive, to be offloaded from the router.
"Most routers that are in service today cannot encrypt data at sufficient rates to be practical. Since the V100 is dedicated to encryption, its price/performance ratio surpasses these routers by orders of magnitude," notes Christo du Toit, product design engineer at Trispen Technologies.
Companies are looking for ways of leveraging public networks such as the Internet to build business solutions. The IP-Granite V100 provides a cost-effective way to build highly secure VPNs across these networks, with the minimum hassle factor.
The V100 will be sold via Trispen Technologies` channel partners at a list price of $3 500. Channel partners can be located on the Trispen Technologies Web site (www.trispen.com).
