Truphone VOIP-enables N80

Truphone has unveiled a mobile VOIP solution for Nokia N80 cellphones, allowing users to download that enables the dual-mode phone to use VOIP.

TCM Net, regards Truphone as a "pioneer" in bringing mobile VOIP to cellular handsets, and says the company was one of the first to deliver a mobile VOIP solution to the market in 2005, but since then, several other companies have launched similar solutions to deliver mobile VOIP to the masses.

"Truphone plans to support additional -enabled phones in the near future, including those built on the Windows Mobile platform," adds the article.

VOIP Inc restructuring

In an effort to improve its balance sheet and enhance operating results, VOIP Inc (a provider of VOIP communications solutions for providers, resellers and consumers) has announced it has completed the first phase of its restructuring.

The company is streamlining operations, reducing its overall level of indebtedness and raising additional capital. It has terminated its marketing and distribution agreement with Phone House.

"The company also entered into an agreement with certain investors where they converted approximately $7 million in debentures into common stock, and separately raised $2.3 million via a private placement," writes TCM Net.

"We believe these initiatives have positioned the company well to capitalise on the many promising opportunities available for our unique VOIP technology offerings," says Anthony Cataldo VOIP Inc`s chairman and CEO.

3Com introduces VOIP phone

3Com has introduced the 3108 wireless phone, a SIP-based IP device for enterprise users, which integrates mobility with VOIP communications on a wireless LAN infrastructure.

"The phone allows users to roam a building or campus environment without having their calls interrupted, access e-mail wirelessly and run data applications," explains TCM Net.

"In today`s interactive world, many employees are no longer spending hours tied to their desks. To be productive, employees have to be mobile to effectively engage customers, solve problems and collaborate with partners and other employees," notes Brian Allain, VP and GM of 3Com`s Data and Voice Business Unit.
