Trydian Interactive launches patent toolkit

By The Innovation Hub
Pretoria, 29 May 2006

Local inventors and the intellectual property community stand to benefit from The Patent Toolkit - a newly launched set of e-tools for inventors to ensure their ideas and intellectual property are properly protected from the start.

Developed by Trydian Interactive - a tenant at The Innovation Hub - and patent attorneys Smit & Van Wyk, this innovative and affordable product allows individuals to file provisional patent applications themselves.

According to Trydian MD, Donrich Jordaan, until now people who wanted to file their own provisional patent applications had only two options. "They could either hire patent attorneys to draft their applications at a very high cost, or file their applications on their own without any guidance, which more often than not resulted in inadequate protection and the loss of their rights to their inventions."

The Patent Toolkit contains an introductory course on drafting patent specifications and numerous examples of best practice, common mistakes, and all the necessary forms with which to file an application. It even includes the template used by patent attorneys to draw up a client's patent specification.

All the components of The Patent Toolkit are combined with multimedia elements to make it practical and very user-friendly.

As a special launch offer for a limited time, The Patent Toolkit is available at R1 999.
