Tupperware signs network deal with MTN NS

Johannesburg, 13 Feb 2003

Tupperware Corporation, a $1.1 billion multinational company, recently signed a R1 million deal with MTN Network Solutions for the provision of international fibre bandwidth services from SA to London and New York.

The deal, aimed at providing Tupperware SA with connectivity to its international head office in the US as well as 100 other operating sites worldwide, came about after much investigation with several of the top fibre and VPN infrastructure providers in the country, including Telkom.

Says Charlie Barrack, Global IT Manager, Tupperware: "There where certain requirements that Tupperware needed to meet to ensure that the service would be adequate for the South African branch. They included, low latency, low packet loss and of course availability. These qualities where identified in the MTN NS service which is what ultimately led us to the decision to sign with MTNNS".

The fibre service will give Tupperware a connection through to London at which point it can break out of the network and communicate with Tupperware branches across Europe. All other communications will be transported across the MTN NS Trans-Atlantic link from London to NY where the head office of Tupperware is located.

Says Stuart Hardy, Sales and Marketing Director for MTN NS: "We are very excited at the opportunity of doing business with such a reputable and global company like Tupperware. This deal confirms our position and ability to provide international Internet and VPN services on a global basis."

The MTN NS fibre Internet and VPN service went live a few months ago after a lengthy installation period.

"Installing an international VPN to London and NY takes time. MTN NS has been meticulous in ensuring that the international offering has the same service levels as its local MPLS Network and uses the same technology. The obvious attractiveness of the service is evident in its performance and competitive pricing, which allows companies to enjoy some significant cost savings while ensuring service quality. This infrastructure is competitive on every level," says Hardy.
