Engineering components supplier, Turborep, is yet another company to latch on to the business benefits of outsourcing and has chosen IOCORE to host its new, integrated SAP business information system.
The deal forms part of a joint operation with Spearhead Logistics, in terms of which the specialist business system implementation consultancy will supply and implement the SAP system, which IOCORE`s Outsourcing division will then host and maintain on behalf of Turborep.
Nathan Self, sales manager at Turborep, says the enterprise identified a need to implement a business improvement solution and initiated a works management project based on SAP`s Logistics, Finance & Human Resources components.
"We have commenced with a detailed assessment of our business blueprint, which will enable rapid and coherent implementation of the SAP systems and quickly deliver tangible results and business benefit to Turborep," explains Self.
The new system will establish a coherent and efficient workflow of business events and processes across all functional areas.
"The integration of all our business operations in an overall system for planning, controlling and monitoring will allow for better discipline over our business activities, and provide us with a flexible software base for our business infrastructure," he says.
Turborep`s decision to go the outsourcing route had not initially been on the company`s agenda and came only later in the sales cycle, at the suggestion of one of the company`s directors.
"The IOCORE SAP hosting site really impressed us with its excellent hardware set-up and the high skills and expertise levels of its staff," says Self.
Outsourcing benefits to Turborep will include the freedom to focus on its core business activities and having access to world-class capabilities, while sharing risk.
When the Turborep SAP system goes live in April 2001, IOCORE`s Outsourcing division will provide full off-site hosting and support from its secure venue in Bryanston.
No integration work is necessary between Turborep`s existing platform and the SAP system and Spearhead Logistics, a National Implementation Partner of SAP Southern Africa will implement standard SAP modules. These include PS (Project System), PP (Production Planning), MM (Materials Management), HRM (Human Resources Management), FI (Financials), and CO (Controlling).
