Philips has introduced dual monitor and television functionality on an 18-inch screen, aimed at corporate users.
The new Philips 180MT monitor`s resizable Picture-in-Picture (PIP) feature makes it possible to combine PC and TV functionality, allowing users to work on their PC and watch TV in a separate window at the same time.
Philips sales and marketing manager Tyrone Young says the Philips LCD Monitor/TV offers constant access to TV viewing, full-featured computer monitor functions and a remote controllable 100-page Teletext feature that enables access to additional news and information, such as stock markets and sports news.
Equipped with several video connectors, it can be connected to almost any video source. "It offers 15-pin VGA, Scart, S-Video and audio ports sitting alongside the RF connector for a standard coaxial aerial cable, while you can also plug in other A/V equipment such as DVD players or games consoles. And unlike fitting your PC with a TV tuner card, the 180MT`s TV functions can be used independently from your PC," explains Young.
The chassis contains an 18-inch LCD panel with a conventional pixel pitch of 0.297mm and offers a native resolution of 1 024 by 768 pixels. It also offers effective image scaling for non-native resolutions, as well as automatic re-scaling, user interface and remote control.
"The bezel contains a pair of 2.5W speakers, which provide better sound reproduction than the more commonplace 1W speakers," adds Young. "It is a multifunctional display geared at satisfying the needs of the corporate market."
