Johannesburg-based TVR Computers, a component and peripheral distributor, has entered into an agreement with Taiwanese group Albatron, for the distribution of motherboards and graphic cards in the southern African region.

"With the Albatron desktop PC range, TVR is hoping to compete with brands such as Gigabyte, Asus and MSI," says TVR Computers CEO Norman Baartman.

"The products are priced very aggressively and confidence in the quality of the brand is evident with the three-year warranty that the mainboards and graphic cards carry," Baartman states.

TVR is aiming to target a wide market with the Albatron range, from entry-level users to corporations.

"The Albatron motherboards are suited to entry-level, mid-level and high-end users, as well as the gaming sector. We expect that the gaming sector will be a big part of our market," he adds.

Albatron is headquartered in Chong Ho City, Taiwan, and has operating factories in China and Taiwan. The company also has two offices in China and country offices in the US and Germany.

Thirty percent of Albatron`s workforce is dedicated to research and development and the company last year produced the first 1.6GBps Express mainboard, says Baartman.
