The organisation aims "to enhance the use of technology by women, promote and nurture the use of technology by women entrepreneurs, and create business role models and promote co-operation," says Daphney Mashamaite, acting CEO of TWIB.
The TWIB annual conference and awards ceremony is one of the vehicles to achieve this goal.
The winning nominee, whose business must be owned and managed by women, must make use of medium to high technology. Sector winners will be announced at the event, with the overall winner receiving a utility van.
"To date, the organisation`s main priority has been to create awareness of the need for women in business to access technology and the benefits that technology can bring to assist women to grow their businesses," she says.
"It is important that TWIB links up to a diverse network of partner institutions that have the right expertise, skills and resources," she says.
Some of the benefits include strong partnerships across public, private sector and communities, creating an enabling environment for women entrepreneurs to participate meaningfully in the mainstream economy through the use of technology, and the promotion of co-operation and linkages within and across the sectors.
The organisation also encourages girls and young women to choose careers grounded in science, engineering and technology.
