Two new LaserBase models - one with fax

Johannesburg, 02 Feb 2007

Broadbased ICT distributor, Pinnacle Micro, has announced the immediate availability of two new entry-level LaserBase MFP models: the LaserBase MF3220 (3-in-1), and LaserBase MF3240 (4-in-one), which provides users with a fax option.

The MF3220 and MF3240 were designed for use in the home or a small office that requires more than just a printer, and the MF3240 features a Super G3 modem and 33.6kbps fax.

This is according to Cobus Erasmus, Canon brand manager at Pinnacle Micro, who says both MFPs offer 20 pages per minute and produce crisp text and smooth halftones at 1200x600dpi resolution.

When copying, the improved scanner set-up reduces the first copy output time to less than 11 seconds. "In situations where users are frequently printing shorter documents, short warm-up times can be crucial," he says.

"Key to reducing the MP3200 series printer warm-up time is Canon's on-demand fixing technology, maximised with the use of energy-saving fine toner.

"With Canon's advanced raster printing system and high smart compression architecture, jobs are rendered and compressed in the user's PC. The combination of these technologies results in virtually no warm-up time."

To increase the user's all-in-one choice, the entry-level MF3240 incorporates a 256-page memory for worry-free faxing, and a rapid Super G3 33.6kbps modem. The fax functionality also comes with seven one-touch and 100 coded dials.

Erasmus says documents, cards and photos can all be scanned on the flat bed at 600x1200dpi (9600x9600 with enhancement). A "scan to PDF" function provides single-step scanning to PDF file format, saving both time and the need to invest in PDF file creation software.

He concludes by adding the MF3200 series employs an all-in-one cartridge that provides continuous high quality output and cost effective printing. Incorporating the toner, drum and cleaning units into one compact cartridge, the all-in-one cartridge reduces maintenance requirements and increases reliability.

"With each cartridge change, the printer unit is rendered practically new, ensuring continuous high quality output," he says. "Furthermore, each printer ships with a full cartridge as opposed to the usual starter cartridge."
