Open source firm Ubusha Technologies will retain its own branding and identity after Aptronics` acquisition of a majority stake in the company.
Ubusha is a black-empowered provider of full-service solutions and a Novell platinum partner. Black-empowered IT solutions and service provider Aptronics acquired a 51% stake in Ubusha at the end of last month. Ubusha staff own the balance of the shareholding.
Aptronics MD Appie Pema says Ubusha will continue to focus on its key strategic and operational areas of strength: open source, management services, identity management, resource management and infrastructure software. It will continue to be run as a separate entity in terms of its established market branding and identity, he adds.
Ubusha MD Marius Agenbag says the development represents "a substantially beneficial synergy for both companies and our customers".
"Aptronics will benefit greatly from the extension of its market footprint into the management services arena and end-to-end services, especially in the open source space."
Agenbag says Aptronics will, in turn, boost Ubusha`s market offering due to its strength in deploying and implementing solutions.
"We are very excited about the acquisition of Ubusha by Aptronics. This will result in the establishment of one of our most competent delivery partners in all aspects of our solutions," says Stafford Masie, MD of Novell South Africa.
