Ubusha Technologies invited to become Novell Platinum Partner for EMEA

Johannesburg, 20 May 2005

Ubusha Technologies, a market leader in the open source environment, and provider of full-service solutions to the local and international corporate market, has recently announced that it has been invited by Novell to be a Platinum Partner Solutions Provider for the EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) region.

Channel partners are a critical component of Novell`s go-to-market strategy, reaching far more customers than Novell can directly.

Extending its focus on Linux and identity services to embrace its channel partners, Novell has developed specialisation programmes, offered extensive partner training on Linux, and plans to share with partners effective methodologies for deploying open source and identity services.

These new resources are driving new business for partners.

This is according to Marius Agenbag, Managing Director of Ubusha Technologies in SA.

"We see huge growth in the Linux arena," Agenbag explains.

"As a traditional Novell partner we saw an opportunity with the fast moving open source software market. Then, Novell`s acquisition of SUSE really expanded the range of Linux-based solutions and services that we can offer to our customers," Agenbag adds.

"Ubusha is widely acknowledged by the corporate market both locally and internationally as a market leader in the open source, management services, identity management, resource management and infrastructure software arenas.

"For this reason, Novell South Africa is proud to have a Platinum Partner on a regional level based in SA. This is once again proof that we are leading the OSS drive and momentum while empowering black empowered and owned organisations in our local economy," points out Stafford Masie, Managing Director of Novell South Africa.

"This supports our convictions surrounding broad-based black economic empowerment (BEE) while establishing the foundation for a self-sustaining South African ICT industry," Masie adds.

"Furthermore, we want to empower where we can, aiding in transformation and minimising the revenue churn from exiting our country. Rather, we wish to attract investment and utilisation of our leading skills on an international platform.

Ubusha personifies these visions with their internationally competitive capabilities," Masie remarks.

According to Petra Heinrich, VP of Business Partner Sales & Marketing, Platinum membership is by invitation only; and represents Novell strategic relationship with major industry partners.

"Platinum relationships, such as the one with Ubusha Technologies, are formulated around synergistic opportunities to maximise return on the partner relationship on behalf of the client`s benefit. Platinum partners enjoy dedicated account management, business planning and developer support, and the opportunity to co-engage with Novell on major customer opportunities," explains Heinrich.

"With the Platinum partners our clients can fully rely on a very professional consulting, implementation and integration into their environment," she adds.

"There`s never been a better time to partner with Novell. Not only has there been a high level of commitment to Novell`s Linux strategy from strategic partners such as IBM, HP, Dell and Oracle, Novell channel partners have also embraced this strategy at a rapid pace, increasing their Linux solutions business significantly over the last year," continues Masie.

According to Masie, partners are seeing the value of working with a Linux vendor that also provides services to meet their customers` needs in heterogeneous environments. Novell`s identity-driven solutions continue to add value to both partners and customers by solving pressing management and security challenges.
