IT company UCS Group has appointed Frank Pinto as chief operating executive of the UCS Software division, with effect from the beginning of last month.

Pinto joins UCS after about seven years at retailer Edcon as technology executive. He previously worked for Nedcor, ProSelver Investments and Compass Insurance ( of which he was part of the founding team in 1994). He also worked at Barclays National for more than 20 years, including 11 years as an independent IT consultant in his own business, Eutechnics, providing a range of IT services to large corporates in the financial services sector.

UCS group COO Neil Michelson says Pinto was ideally suited to aid the company in growing its delivery objectives. "Frank specialises in the alignment of IT , technology architecture and application frameworks to the broader strategic imperatives of a business."

Pinto says he is looking forward to his new position. "I respect what UCS Software has accomplished. I'm honoured to join such a first-rate team at this exciting juncture and look forward to contributing my experience in the retail sector to further enhance the division's operational efficiency levels, delivery capabilities and the management of strategic relationships across UCS Group."

UCS is an IT business with a primary focus on the provision of software, solutions and services for selected markets. UCS Software is a wholly owned division of the UCS Group.
