Ugandan-based software developer Crystal Clear Software (CCS) has signed a contract with K-Rep Fedha Services (KFS), to supply 50 software licences for its micro-finance product software Loan Performer.
The deal amounted to $38 400, with the licences to be supplied over a 13-month period. The software handles shares, savings deposits, loan tracking and accounting.
KFS is a fully-owned subsidiary of K-Rep Group and offers management and technical support to financial services associations (FSAs).
KFS is working with 46 FSAs in the rural Kenya, which offer credit, savings and money transfer services to their members.
"This software is well-suited to helping start-up businesses in developing regions," says Hans Verkoijen, executive director of CCS.
CCS already has 15 clients within the Kenyan market. "Although we have existing licences, there is still room for growth.
"With KFS taking 50 licences, others organisations and FSAs will have more confidence in the software," says Verkoijen.
The company has 360 sites in over 50 countries where the software is being utilised. With the extra 50 licences, the number of installed sites will increase to over 400, with the intention to expand further.
Verkoijen is in Rwanda to demonstrate the capabilities of Loan Performer software for organisations of AMIR (the network of Rwanda micro-finance institutions).
"CCS plans to create awareness around the product in the African market over the next few months."
Software developers at CCS will build a Portuguese version of the software as the company is getting new clients in Mozambique, he adds.
