UK-based process mapping and performance management solutions provider Nimbus has concluded an implementation partnership with local group, Rethink Management Consulting, as it prepares to enter the South African market.

SA is considered an "obvious" geographical location and market for Nimbus to enter, not only from a business perspective, but also due to cultural similarities between SA and the UK, said Mark Cotgrove, Nimbus senior VP of alliances, during a visit to SA.

Another compelling argument for expanding into the South African market is the levels of sophistication of many local companies in the business process management (BPM) space, he added.

Enterprises should view BPM and core process management as one, but most companies worldwide are only now starting to talk about this, he said.

Most companies, he argued, fail to manage the value inherent in their structured and unstructured knowledge, saying that an enterprise`s value does not solely lie in physical assets.

Nimbus`s Control-ES solution implements process mapping and performance management, Cotgrove stated, which allows strategic initiatives to be adopted consistently throughout an organisation. Companies using Control-ES can measure and gain visibility of end-to-end processes throughout the organisation, he said, defining each individual`s role, responsibility and accountability and actively promoting collaboration between departments, functions and individuals.

Cotgrove estimated that there are 200 BPM automation vendors globally, but expects that most of these will cease to exist within the next five years.

"BPM as a niche solution will become a thing of the past," he said, adding that BPM is expected to become integrated into a broader suite of management tools.
