UK firms breach compliance rules
More than 87% of the UK`s blue chip companies have admitted to breaching current e-mail compliance legislation, according to a study by Corporate VAR SCC.
Computing reports that the study questioned FTSE-listed organisations across vertical markets including financial, legal, insurance and retail, at SCC`s recent e-mail compliance conference, held in partnership with Sun.
Results also revealed that none of the organisations had a fully compliant e-mail policy in place and lacked confidence in their ability to comply with requirements set out in the Data Protection Act and Sarbanes-Oxley.
US govt tests ITIL
In a straw poll of more than 250 US federal, state and local government decision-makers, 65% were testing ITIL (IT Infrastructure Library), reports Government Technology.
They wanted to get their arms around everything from support service management - including problem management, incident management, change management, release management and configuration management - and service delivery management - including service level management, availability management, capacity management and financial management - to larger operational processes, which includes infrastructure management, applications management, security management and project management.
They were coming with cap-in-hand, with 35% indicating they now rely on home-grown solutions and roughly half (47%) suggesting they had cobbled together a hybrid management scheme that added commercial tools to their home-grown efforts.
