Xhead = UK govt plans £1.5bn ICT services framework

Computerworld UK reports.

The government has also previously declared it wants to use more open source software and award a larger chunk of IT contracts to SMEs.

According to PublicService.co.uk, the government says it seeks suppliers to provide it with software services that include systems implementation for ERP, customer relationship management, business intelligence, warehouse and management systems.

The tender further reads that it requires "big and case management; service implementation, including support and maintenance for enterprise applications; application development; consultancy and delivery for requirements; and software asset management".

The government is reassessing its current IT frameworks following the release of its ICT strategy in March last year, Computing.co.uk says.

A strategic implementation plan was released in October last year, which indicated that, through adopting these approaches, the UK government could save £1.4 billion by 2015.
