UK public demands efficiency

Birmingham City Council and Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council in the UK are using EMC enterprise content and document management (ECDM) to improve efficiency in the public sector, reports eWeekEurope.

According to Anne Wright, Redcar and Cleveland ECDM project manager, there was a need for the councils to cut back on manually intensive, paper-based processes.

Mike Davis, Ovum senior analyst, notes that councils are looking to improve the way they manage content due to higher citizen expectations, tighter and lower revenues.

Ricoh targets ECDM newcomers

Ricoh, a provider of office equipment, has unveiled Cima Software's DocuClass Express document management software, says PR Newswire.

The solution is designed for companies that are new to document management, and are looking to achieve business process optimisation.

Nelson Cano, vice-president of sales and marketing for Cima Software, says that the solution reduces solutions sales cycles, provides instance access to information and improves content security.

BizCom simplifies content management

BizCom Web Services, a Microsoft Gold Certified Partner, is set to release version 2.5 of its Web site content management system, states dBusinessNews.

The system uses the Microsoft .NET 3.5 framework and SQL Server 2008 to provide a user-friendly toolset for complete Web site management.

Don Rodger, vice-president of technology at BizCom, says: “We've implemented several new tools in this release, including full audit trail cataloguing for businesses that must meet strict requirements, an event registration system, enhanced search engine optimisation tools and a powerful new Form Builder.”
