Leading telecommunications company Hymax SA has appointed Cherry Allen as general manager of its operations.
Allen, who joined Hymax at its Cape Town head office in November, takes on a strategic position as the telecoms supplier takes up new opportunities following deregulation in South Africa.
A former director of Whole Sale Carrier (UK and Europe) and managing director (UK) of FaciliCom International (FCI), Allen brings to Hymax more than 20 years experience in the international telecoms arena.
Hymax provides cost saving telecommunication solutions including VOIP, data connectivity, IP PBX, and voice connectivity for the corporate, SME and government sectors.
Chief executive John van den Munckhof said that Allen`s extensive experience in the industry overseas would make her a key player in structuring Hymax`s future growth and reducing telecoms costs for small and medium-sized organisations.
"One of our key aims is to position Hymax as a strategic telecommunications supplier to the medium-sized corporate and SME markets in this country," said Van den Munckhof. "South Africa is a few years behind the US and Europe and we anticipate that her experience in those markets will greatly assist our roll-out here."
Allen said that the beauty of Hymax was that it offered businesses a total solution package. "In this fast-changing technology universe, clients are ensured Hymax can optimise costing by updating and adding on to existing systems. This is essential in South Africa following deregulation and considering all the options coming onto the market."
