Ukash continues growth with launch in New Zealand

Johannesburg, 19 Oct 2010

Ukash, the world's fastest growing online-cash payments company, has announced that its e-cash vouchers are now available at 200 point of sale terminals, operated by epay, across New Zealand.

Following its successful launch in Australia last year, Ukash has signed a deal with epay to allow customers in New Zealand to get Ukash vouchers for the first time, which will be available from convenience stores across the North and South islands.

Kiwi consumers can now get Ukash vouchers to shop, pay and play online using cash, as the demand for spending safely on the Internet continues to rise. A paper voucher will be issued at point of purchase, with a code that is redeemable at any site where Ukash is accepted. Ukash vouchers can be combined, split or converted; a convenient way for consumers to shop online across Web sites from different countries.

Paul Coxhill, Marketing Director, Ukash, said: “Ukash enjoyed substantial growth last year, which is continuing throughout 2010. The Ukash offering has been very popular in Australia and we are confident that consumers in New Zealand will also welcome our launch, as the demand for using cash online and the benefit of shopping safely and securely on the Internet continues to grow.”

Ukash vouchers, which can be obtained at more than 420 000 physical locations globally, will be available to users in New Zealand in values of $10, $20, $50, $100, $200 and $500. Consumers can find their nearest outlet by visiting the New Zealand homepage at www.ukash.com.

Ukash

Ukash, the world's largest prepaid-cash issuing estate, enables consumers from anywhere in the world to shop, pay and play online safely using cash. Ukash is a secure payment method developed to protect personal identity and financial information when making online transactions, eliminating the threat of credit and debit card fraud for consumers and repudiations and charge-backs for retailers.

Established in 2001 under the holding company Smart Voucher, Ukash has grown to more than 420 000 physical points of purchase, and is available in more than 50 countries and six continents around the world. In 2008, Ukash established a strategic partnership with South African payments giant Blue Label Telecoms - part owned by Microsoft, to develop the brand's services.

Ukash is regulated by the UK Financial Services Authority (FSA) and operates as one of only a small number of Electronic Money Institutions, a status that allows a single maximum online cash payment transaction of up to lb500/EUR750.

Uniquely numbered Ukash vouchers are available through payment terminals in retail outlets across Europe, South Africa, South America, Canada and Australia and are also issued online from the company's Web site in selected European territories.

The technology behind Ukash is protected by patents registered across the Smart Voucher database and functionality and is, as such, protected by Patent Law in all the major economies of the world. Ukash is a registered trademark of Smart Voucher.
