Image editing, video editing and Web graphics software developer Ulead Systems offers users new and improved audio and video features in a 1.2 update patch for its award-winning DVD authoring software, Ulead DVD Workshop.
The benefits of the update patch are significant, according to Square One Solutions Group, the JSE-listed sole distributor in SA for Ulead Systems.
"DVD Workshop 1.2 enables videographers to author DVDs with broader set-top player support by encoding LPCM audio," says Lisa Jackson, divisional manager responsible for Ulead products at Square One. "It also eliminates the need to re-encode and maintains the quality of source video with Multiple Video Title Set support (Multi-VTS)."
Multi-VTS enables users to mix various DVD-compliant video files such as MPEG-1 VCD files, 16:9 ratios, different bit rate qualities and Half D1 into one DVD project. Users can author and burn DVDs even faster with DVD Workshop's enhanced MPEG.Now encoding, which makes DV-to-MPEG file capture and transcoding up to 59% faster.
"The 1.2 Update Patch results from the encouragement Ulead has received from the market since the February release of DVD Workshop," says Jackson. "Ulead listened to user suggestions for improvements on the first release, and I now expect DVD Workshop to score even greater success in the videographer and hi-tech media communities."
Other 1.2 enhancements include burning support for new DVD+R drives, improved motion menu button quality, ADS USB Instant DVD device support, correct file information and import of AVI files created in Adobe Premiere, and increased reliability in burning large projects (4GB+ DVDs; 600MB+ CDs).
There is also enhanced support of the Ulead PhotoImpact Object (UFO) file format, allowing for easy import of any graphic object as a button or decorative element within DVD Workshop menus.
