Ultimus BPM suite recognised

Ultimus has been named to KMWorld Magazine`s list of "100 Companies that Matter in Knowledge Management (KM)" in 2006. For the fifth year in a row, Ultimus has been identified as an organisation at the forefront of KM innovation, reports Carolina Newswire.

"The list is conceived as a way to recognize some of the organizations leading the way in the knowledge economy," said Hugh McKellar, editor-in-chief of KMWorld.

"In particular, Ultimus warranted inclusion in our 100 list because the Ultimus BPM suite offers users the ability to integrate process and human workflow - two areas that need to work cohesively to achieve KM success."

BEA updates BPM tool

BEA Systems unveiled a new version of a tool it acquired last year that it said can be used to build and manage collaborative business processes, says Computerworld.

The updated AquaLogic Interaction Process, previously called Plumtree Process Server, was added to the BEA product line following BEA`s purchase of Plumtree Software last October.

Version 1.5 of the tool set is tightly integrated with BEA`s AquaLogic Interaction Collaboration tool, allowing multiple people to use and manage documents and project information through portals, BEA said.

Emphasising process importance

" is a huge topic everywhere," says Dr Mathias Kirchmer, CEO of IDS Scheer for the Americas and Japan.

According to Line56, it`s a huge topic at ProcessWorld, too, just as at previous years. That said, this iteration of the annual IDS Scheer event looks forward to a world of process management that subsumes compliance, not the other way around.

Here`s another way to look at it. Enterprise resource planning plus business process management equals an integrated people-process-compliance loop.

Dr Kirchmer offers an example from an organisational perspective. "The clerk executes the job using an ERP system, while the manager organises the process work and integrate it into the overall organisation."
