Ultimus portal goes live

Ultimus, a developer of business process management software suites, has gone live with its e-learning portal, Ultimus Online Training, states Market Watch.

The initiative offers Ultimus and customers on-demand and self-paced learning for the full BPM suite in a collaborative environment. The portal provides role-oriented lessons by user type, allowing executives, business analysts, developers and end-users to receive training based on how they'll be using Ultimus.

Online course content is reinforced through a combination of lecture, documentation, video screencasts, interactive quizzes and hands-on lab exercises performed in a virtual environment.

HR leaders overlook e-learning

According to independent research by e-learning solutions provider IMC Learning, only half of HR professionals have invested in learning management systems or rapid authoring tools in their organisation, despite the fact that 79% believe it is important to be able to produce in-house training quickly and cost-effectively, according to Training Press Releases.

The survey polled 150 UK HR professionals on their training needs, practices and expectations during the economic slowdown.

Dirk Thissen, MD of IMC Learning, said: "HR leaders should see the economic downturn as a prime opportunity to re-evaluate their training programmes and explore some of the more flexible and cost-efficient training tools on the market such as podcasts, virtual classrooms or Web-based training."

Alpine Access opens e-university

Alpine Access, a provider of contact centre solutions, has launched the Alpine Access University (AAU), a virtual learning institution to develop best-in-class customer care representatives, reports The Earth Times.

AAU president John Kruper has transformed existing training programmes into an "e-university" that utilises the latest multimedia, collaboration and personalisation technologies to provide hands-on learning.

The programme presents material in multiple formats, allowing users to customise their training according to how they learn best. AAU also includes a strong social network that enables remote learners to enjoy the support of a peer-to-peer community.
