JBoss updates BPM suite

Open source Java vendor JBoss announced a major update to its jBPM suite at LinuxWorld, in Boston.

According to Computing, Sacha Labourey, JBoss chief technology officer, said new tools would plug into the firm`s forthcoming enterprise service bus (ESB).

"It`s important to see how our projects fit into our overall service-oriented architecture strategy and the JBoss ESB, which is an asynchronous bus that will have a plug-and-play architecture," he said.

Integrate BPM with existing environments

For 20 years workflow software has helped banks, insurance companies, government agencies, and manufacturers improve employee productivity, reduce cycle time, and reinforce best practices by automating the flow of tasks. Today, however, we don`t talk about workflow as a standalone technology. We talk about BPM, according to a white paper on InformationWeek.

BPM tackles a larger problem than simply workflow automation. BPM not only automates, but also integrates and optimises business processes. Not all steps in a business process require human interaction. Many are automated actions performed on various business systems spread throughout the enterprise.
