UMT South Africa, South Africa's leading project, program and portfolio management services, consulting and outsourcing company, has enhanced its technology support offering after identifying gaps in its current offering after recent EPM and Project Portfolio Server (PPS) deployments at several customers.
"We were seeing that customers were deploying EPM or PPS solutions, and although training and mentoring on the technology was provided as part of the deployment, after the toolsets went live the deployment would often lose momentum because the users were not entirely comfortable on the technology," says Shimone Bezuidenhout, support manager of UMT South Africa.
"In addition, administrators may not be completely comfortable on the administration of the technology and often experienced teething issues.
"As a result, we have added to our EPM and PPS service level agreements (SLAs) a bundled hours option where customers are able to buy a number of support hours upfront and then use these hours as and when support is needed in their EPM or PPS environment. The support can be end-user support or technical support.
"This allows customers to ensure that momentum is not lost on the use of their project and portfolio toolset after implementation. It ensures that users will have the expert support available to fully understand how the tools work and how best to apply them to their particular environment. It also helps us as our customer's project management partner to ensure optimal adoption of new technology."
UMT SA currently provides SLA-based support to over 15 organisations, and ad-hoc support to many more. "We have invested much over the last two years in building our support infrastructure, which now includes dedicated support consultants and a world-class support management tool where customers can log and track the status of their calls," says Bezuidenhout.
