Uncapped ADSL from Internet Solutions ready for market

Fixed IP addresses, uncapped access, anti-spam and IS fax bundled into price
Johannesburg, 08 Apr 2005

Up to today, ADSL users in SA are, reportedly, not the happiest bunch (www.MyADSL.co.za). The ADSL service available has been inflexible, capped and expensive.

In addition, one of the biggest issues for business users has been the inability to assign the service to static IP addresses. This prevents the hosting of servers (for instance a mail or Web server) at the customer`s premises. Internet Solutions (IS), one of the country`s largest converged communication services providers, has overcome this and is now in a position to provide valued-added services in its newly launched Business ADSL service, which also includes uncapped Internet access.

Announcing the service, Ian Isenberg, general manager of Access Solutions at IS, says the long-awaited IS Business ADSL service has several advantages over competitive offerings.

"We looked at what our customers wanted and designed a basic bundled offering, with bandwidth optimisation for small to large businesses that can be installed and serviced by IS. With 70% of the country`s dialup market, as well as experiences gained when a very large ISP brought their customers to our network, we are in a position to base the solution on market requirements across the board. In addition, this service is directly linked to the IS network infrastructure and thus is not subject to any external pressures," said Isenberg.

The Business IS ADSL bundle consists of:

* Uncapped local and international Internet access
* Five static IP addresses per account
* Ten anti-spam accounts for the customer`s e-mail accounts
* Five ISFax dial numbers
* Router with built-in ADSL modem
* Lightening protection units - for both power and the ADSL line

"The router supplied is part of the monthly service fee, thus giving customers a real benefit in that it will be updated or replaced should a fault occur, or as we are frequently experiencing, changes in router technology. This protects the end-user from buying a router that could possibly need replacing during the rental period," says Isenberg.

"From experience, the costs of running ADSL will be approximately half of a Diginet service and we see this bundle as being particularly attractive for the corporate market, as the costs will be completely predictable and ease budgetary administration."

Any additional requirements such as MPLS - ADSL and migration of current services - should be addressed with either your IS account manager or reseller.

The ISADSL Business service is available directly from IS, through IS authorised value channel partners and resellers (IS`s Virtual Internet Service Providers), and can be used by the customers at their business premises or from home.

Consumer ADSL from IS will be phased in over the next few months.
