Unisys Corporation, EDS, and Transcor Group announced today that they are teaming to provide enterprise lending solutions and Internet-based loan origination solutions, both utilizing Microsoft`s Windows NT-based technology. The effort targets mid-sized thrift and savings banks.
The joint marketing effort comprises software, hardware and services. EDS markets a Unisys based system, called MISER2, designed for thrifts and savings banks. EDS has entered an agreement with Transcor to integrate Transcor`s Enterprise Lending Solutions with MISER2, providing a comprehensive set of loan origination solutions for mortgage, consumer, and commercial lending requirements. The EDS/Transcor solution employs client/server and highly-secure electronic commerce technology, allowing financial institutions to deliver, via the World Wide Web, all processes associated with a loan including loan application, credit analysis, disposition, closing and boarding. The solutions will be marketed in conjunction with the Unisys Aquanta and ClearPath HMP lines of Microsoft Windows NT-based enterprise servers.
"We are committed to providing the broadest range of flexible, value-added services to the community bank market," said Ray Maturi, president of EDS` community banking services unit. "Teaming with Transcor gives MISER2 financial institutions the ability to offer their customers comprehensive, Internet-based commercial, mortgage and consumer applications, built on Windows NT and the Unisys ClearPath platform."
"The agreement is valuable for several reasons but the most important is the value it brings to the customers, both new and existing. The customer ultimately wins when you bring the expertise of several leading technology companies together," said John Michael, President of Transcor Group Inc. "The business solutions that our combined efforts afford the customer base are significant enough to ultimately give them the potential to broaden their marketplace, help them deliver more quality loan products, and improve service to their customers. When you can afford your customers that potential, that`s an automatic win."
"The agreement between Transcor and EDS adds value to both solutions and enhances Unisys ability to be the technology provider for leading-edge financial institutions," said Scott Clark, vice president and general manager, Unisys Business Solutions Organization. "This team is well positioned to deliver to new and existing customers additional technology capabilities that will generate new incremental revenues and increase productivity."
The EDS MISER2 application is an on-line, real-time core banking solution for financial institutions with up to $15 billion in assets and utilizing the underlying client/server architecture of the Unisys ClearPath platform. With its single database and open, modular architecture, MISER 2 offers sophisticated capabilities including advanced loan origination and tracking, relationship customer information file, and optical disk. EDS offers MISER2 as either a in-house or a service bureau product.
The Transcor Enterprise Lending Solution allows a financial institution`s customers to apply for a loan and receive instant approval entirely on-line via the Internet. Available for consumer, commercial and mortgage loan applications, the system provides complete "life cycle" management of the loan. It facilitates all processes associated with a loan and may be designed to support multiple operational structures, from totally decentralized to any combination of centralized/decentralized.
The EDS/Transcor software solution provides a seamless interface between the core banking system and the loan origination system. This allows a quicker, more efficient, and less costly exchange of information, whether it be to gather information on existing customers applying for loans or passing information to the core banking system upon the completion of the institution`s loan approval process. Transcor`s Internet Lender module further reduces costs by allowing loan applicants to initiate the loan origination from the convenience of their own home or office.
The Unisys ClearPath HMP architecture is based upon the industry leading heterogeneous multiprocessing (HMP) concept that allows software integration between traditional and open environments that is packaged within a single system platform. ClearPath servers offer true collaborative computing environments through the integration of Windows NT or UnixWare operating systems with legacy mainframe systems.
