Unisys Corporation today announced that it is a recipient of a multiple-award contract that has an estimated value to Unisys of $100 million over five-years from the Department of Treasury, Internal Revenue Service to provide support services under the Treasury Information Processing Support Services-2 (TIPSS-2) contract. As one of the incumbent contractors, Unisys received this indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity recompete contract that follows the successful, original TIPSS contract.
Under the contract, Unisys will support a variety of information technology and business management projects for all organizations within the Department of Treasury, Treasury Bureaus and the IRS worldwide in four principal task areas: information systems services, telecommunications support services, organizational/management services and operational support services. As a prime contractor, Unisys will lead a team composed of PRC, Bell Atlantic, KPMG and 13 small businesses. Together, the Unisys team will have an opportunity to develop, design and implement vital Treasury and IRS systems, and provide key support in the areas of information resource and business management.
The contract continues Unisys solid presence with the IRS, and follows the award of the IRS Modernization contract that it received at the end of 1998.
TIPSS-2 requires many of the same support services as its predecessor TIPSS contract, on which Unisys consistently received high contractor performance assessments during the five-year period. Furthermore, Unisys has a proven track record in e-business with Unisys e-@ction Government Solutions, Unisys e-@ction Managed Network Solutions, Unisys e-@ction Network Alliance Solutions and Unisys e-@ction Solutions for Windows 2000, all core competencies that coincide with the TIPSS-2 four principal task areas.
"TIPSS-2 is designed to offer the Department of Treasury the complete range of information technology support services," said Joe Santamaria, Unisys vice president and general manager, Unisys U.S. Federal Government Group Sales. "Based on our past success on the original TIPSS contract and our focus on providing IT services and solutions to the federal marketplace, we anticipate that TIPSS-2 will also be a successful vehicle to help the Department of Treasury streamline its IT functions and business operations."
Because indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity contracts do not obligate the government to purchase more than a minimum quantity, the estimated value of the IRS TIPSS-2 contract to Unisys is not guaranteed.
