Unisys wins Microsoft Global Services Partner Award

Johannesburg, 12 Aug 2002

Microsoft has presented Unisys, the information technology services and solutions company, with the 2002 Global Services Partner of the Year Special Recognition Award. The award was announced at Microsoft`s annual partner conference, Fusion 2000, held in Los Angeles recently.

Unisys was selected among many prominent global alliance partners, including EDS, KPMG Consulting and other competitors. Recognising the company`s outstanding accomplishments as a global services partner, the award is based on positive feedback received from Microsoft`s worldwide field staff.

"This award is a testament to the efforts and dedication of the teams across Unisys who work with the Microsoft initiative," says Barry Holt MD, Unisys Africa. "Competing against companies like EDS and KPMG Consulting, it is very gratifying to know that we earned this honour because of the value Unisys brings when engaging customers."

The award also honours Unisys`s proven track record and its commitment to the Microsoft platform in the high-end enterprise space.

In presenting the award, Microsoft said: "Unisys has been our lead partner in the sales and support of high-end enterprise Windows systems through the combination of professional services, vertical industry applications, enterprise server technology, and Global Gold Certified Support services.

"Unisys established a number of milestones for the Microsoft platform, including publishing systems benchmarks on Windows 2000 Datacentre Server systems, Centres of Excellence to support the global ISV (independent vendor) community for highly scalable systems, and implementation of projects that extended and fully exploited the capability of Windows 2000 Datacentre and SQL Server 2000."

Other noteworthy Unisys achievements as a Microsoft partner include Global Gold Certification for support services for both enterprise-wide support and data centre support; training of over 8 000 globally deployed professional services personnel with Microsoft experience; and support of sale and delivery of solutions for over 600 clients worldwide.
