Avtech Software (Avtech) has been selected to provide the United Nations Mission in Liberia (UNMIL) with 'IT & Facilities Environment Monitoring' products to monitor 40 critical data centres in Liberia and surrounding African nations.
The United Nations is already an Avtech customer at their worldwide headquarters in New York City and other locations around the world. Under this new contract, Avtech will provide 40 of its new Room Alert 26W units to monitor environment conditions in IT data centres and provide alerting, data logging and automatic corrective actions. These valuable functions protect vital IT equipment, insure reliability, maximise performance, improve support response time and significantly reduce downtime.
Providing a solution that can quickly and easily be installed to monitor these conditions is critically important to the UNMIL. The mission was established in 2003 to co-ordinate and oversee the ceasefire agreement. Since then, the UNMIL has been instrumental in protecting human rights, forwarding the peace process and supporting national security reform in efforts to resolve conflict in Liberia. Knowing immediately when issues or events occur will help prevent downtime and costly hardware replacement within their data and communications infrastructure, ensuring continuous operation of the mission.
Avtech Software offers a number of solutions that allow managers and staff to know exactly what is going on in their IT data centre or other facility at any point in time, protecting them from potential disasters.
By proactively monitoring the environment, organisations are able to identify and resolve changes, helping to avoid damage or downtime. Avtech, based in Newport, Rhode Island, develops and manufactures hardware and software solutions designed to protect today's advanced data centres. Their products allow easy remote monitoring of the environmental conditions in a computer room, data centre, rack cabinet or other facility. These conditions primarily include temperature and humidity changes, power interruptions and failures, flooding and water leakage, smoke, fire, unauthorised room entry, cameras and more. Once a problem is detected, Avtech products immediately notify managers and staff via today's most advanced mobile technologies, enabling a quick response and automatic corrective action. This allows organisations to avoid or minimise downtime, costly hardware replacement and other related expenses.
