United Planet has unveiled its new social business platform, Intrexx Share.
The company says the platform is expected to assist employee collaboration, streamline business processes, and revitalise the role of the intranet, says United Planet CEO, Axel Wessendorf.
"The intranet is facing real crisis," says Wessendorf. "Instead of providing fast and transparent access to competitive and business critical information, its role within many organisations has been relegated to that of a filing cabinet. Changes in working patterns and the rise of enterprise mobility demands that the intranet reinvents itself and offers a new way for employees to work together."
The platform is intended to provide an alternative to time-consuming meetings and e-mails, by taking a leaf from the social media book. A newsfeed allows news, documents, images and videos to be shared between co-workers, with tracking, commenting and sharing abilities to enable discussions and collaboration on posts. Smartphone and tablet access allow for mobile productivity.
In order to enhance the efficiency value of the service, Intrexx Share incorporates updates and information from other business applications, showing CRM, ERP, BI and Exchange information in the newsfeed. This will improve the decision-making and collaboration process, says United Planet.
"What this means for employees is that they will finally have direct access to all the key information they need to do their job efficiently and effectively," Wessendorf explains. "For example, alerts about the expiry of key contracts will be automatically sent to the appropriate employee for action and users can respond to data from the ERP system without having to use a separate application to view or amend documents."
"Think of Intrexx Share as a central working interface for the entire company, driving information and knowledge sharing," he adds.
Virtual team rooms can be enabled for information exchange related to particular projects. This will allow for group brainstorms to take place irrespective of location and time, says Wessendorf, which will be valuable in many different industries.
"The ability to guarantee information security is naturally a prime concern and we are confident that Intrexx Share will encourage collaboration where other social business solutions have not been successful," concludes Wessendorf. "We have ensured that exchange of information via Intrexx Share is fully secure by stipulating that data is located on protected company servers, and not in the cloud."
