SecureData, a member of the JSE-listed ERP.com Group, and the African distributor for TippingPoint Technologies, today announced that the latter's UnityOne Intrusion Prevention System was awarded 'Best Buy' in SC Magazine's July issue in a multi-vendor evaluation, outranking Juniper/NetScreen's IDP, ISS' Proventia, CounterSnipe and BeadWindow.
TippingPoint's UnityOne achieved a perfect score with five out of five stars in all six testing categories. Products were evaluated on features, ease of use, performance, documentation, support and value for money. The reviewers were able to configure UnityOne within a mere five minutes, a record time in the industry.
According to SC Magazine: "Of all the products we tested, (UnityOne) was the fastest and easiest to install. In performance tests, the device received top ratings in speed and latency. We found that the product's ease of use and installation complemented its performance achievements."
SC Editor Jon Tullett said: "The Best Buy award is SC Magazine's highest honour, bestowed only to reviewed products that rate outstanding across a range of criteria. The product must also raise the bar of the industry through groundbreaking features, excellent ease-of-use and fantastic value for money, as well as having good documentation and helpful support. TippingPoint met all of these requirements and set a high bar for intrusion prevention systems."
"TippingPoint has done extremely well in our group test of intrusion prevention systems," added SC Magazine Editor-in-Chief Ron Condon. "This year, SC Magazine has tightened its scoring criteria, making it very difficult for products to achieve a five-star rating. For UnityOne to receive five stars across the board is an outstanding achievement."
TippingPoint's UnityOne provides application protection, performance protection and infrastructure protection at gigabit speeds through total packet inspection. Application protection capabilities provide fast, accurate, reliable protection from internal and external cyber attacks. Through its infrastructure protection capabilities, UnityOne protects VOIP infrastructure, routers, switches, DNS and other critical infrastructure from targeted attacks and traffic anomalies. UnityOne performance protection capabilities enable customers to throttle non-mission-critical applications that hijack valuable bandwidth and IT resources, thereby aligning network resources and business-critical application performance.
