US department lax on management
An audit from the inspector general of the Veterans Affairs department in the US, reveals the department is not using its computerised contract management system effectively, states Washington Technology.
Auditors looked at 6 755 procurement actions valued at about $1.7 billion and determined that only 17% of the actions were filed in the electronic system.
The report claims the VA cannot achieve the expected benefits of the electronic contract management system, including the ability to integrate procurement processes, reduce workload, and improve communications, without complete information.
