The Universal Service and Access Agency of SA (USAASA) has a new chairman, but it is still not clear when it will appoint a CEO.
Communications minister Siphiwe Nyanda has appointed Lebusho Louis Moahlodi to the chairman position, which became vacant at the end of November. He was also appointed as a non-executive director.
Moahlodi's appointment was concluded speedily, in contrast to the appointment of a new CEO, which has been dragging on for most of the year.
His appointment is for a three-year term, with effect from the beginning of this month. The post became vacant when former chairman Cassandra Gabriel's three-year term expired last month.
At the time, communications spokesman Tiyani Rikhotso said the minister had not decided on the process to replace Gabriel.
The CEO post became vacant in March, when its former head, James Theledi, was axed by the board following charges of sexual harassment.
The agency lost several top-level staff members in the year to March, among them its CFO, senior manager of human resources, and the head of corporate affairs. The head of corporate affairs, CFO and head of research and strategy positions are still vacant, according to the agency's Web site.
Winile Lamani, the agency's operational head, has been acting as CEO since Theledi's axing. He was not available for comment on the new chairman or CEO post this morning. ITWeb was also unable to obtain a copy of Moahlodi's CV this morning.
