SMC has released the EZ Hub USB and EZ Connect USB/Serial converter, delivering plug-and-play connectivity to multiple USB and legacy RS-232 devices.

"The USB adapters are hot-swappable, so you can connect or disconnect devices without interrupting PC power," says Greg Perkins, country manager for SMC southern Africa.

"The EZ Hub can link four USB hubs together providing connectivity to multiple USB devices that are placed up to four metres away. It has automatic full and low-speed signalling support, as well as suspend and resume control with remote wake-up for all of its downstream ports." The device is housed in a compact package and mounts on a wall, or under a desktop in an upright or flat position with its EZ-mount bracket. The hub features eight LEDs so that users can monitor network activity and troubleshoot potential problems.

The Serial Converter`s 25-pin COM port makes connections to modems and other RS-232 legacy devices a snap. The network units derive bus power from their host`s USB connector
