Utimaco, Safend enter into strategic partnership for data leakage protection

By Biodata
Johannesburg, 12 Nov 2007

Utimaco Safeware last week announced its partnership with Safend, the leading provider of endpoint information leakage prevention solutions.

This will add data leakage protection (DLP) to Utimaco`s growing portfolio of data security solutions. The new product, SafeGuard PortProtector, offers companies additional protection against data leakage.

Through an OEM and joint technological development agreement with Safend, Utimaco launches the first step of its data leakage prevention strategy: SafeGuard PortProtector and SafeGuard PortAuditor.

Biodata IT, local distributor of Utimaco, is convinced that Utimaco customers can look forward to a continued development of products focused on data leakage protection, including integration of DLP capabilities with the company`s flagship SafeGuard Enterprise suite. Utimaco is planning further expansion into data leakage protection, with a new content monitoring and filtering product.

According to analyst firm IDC, more than 70% of confidential data resides at the endpoint. Additionally, while increased mobility and connectivity can improve productivity, it often leaves endpoints wide open to data leakage, enterprise penetration and the introduction of malware.

SafeGuard PortProtector provides customers with the tools to protect against data leakage on all types of external storage devices and communication interfaces like Bluetooth or WiFi. It also supports the enforcement of security policies as well as creating device usage and data tracking reports easily.

SafeGuard PortProtector allows the definition and easy application of customised security policies for any domain, group, computer or user and enforces granular security policies that meet specific business needs. With Microsoft Active Directory and Novell eDirectory the solution can be efficiently integrated into existing IT infrastructures.

SafeGuard PortAuditor is a simple and powerful reporting tool that supports SafeGuard PortProtector and enables comprehensive visibility and granular reporting of current and past device connections throughout the entire organisation in order to detect security threats. Encrypted logs and alerts can be integrated with third-party management software for comprehensive analysis.

SafeGuard PortProtector and SafeGuard PortAuditor are available now through Utimaco`s sales partner network. More information about both SafeGuard solutions and pictures can be found at www.utimaco.com/portprotector and www.utimaco.com/picture-pool.
