UUNET SA has introduced a new value-added service to its customers throughout SA that enhances its support offering by proactively notifying companies via SMS of any problems or interruptions to their network. This intelligent SMS Alert Service is available free of charge to all UUhost Colocate and UUdirect customers, to ensure that any outages that may occur on their network are monitored and managed by UUNET.
"As part of our ongoing commitment to providing our customers with the highest levels of service, we have developed this new support tool, which immediately informs the relevant person within the organisation of any service disruptions to their internal infrastructure, thus minimising down-time," says Mike Bruyns-Haylett, Access Product Manager at UUNET SA.
"Additionally, the SMS Alert Service also includes an intelligent escalation procedure, specifically nominated by our customers, which ensures that if no response is received by the specified contact person, UUNET SA is able to automatically alert the next person on the escalation schedule."
This real-time notification is designed to enable companies to resolve infrastructure and internal hosting problems as soon as possible to ensure their own users do not perceive any uncertainty with their service.
"As a free value-added service to all UUdirect and UUhost Colocate customers, UUNET SMS Alert Service ensures that customers receive notification via their mobile phones automatically once they have registered by calling UUNET on 08600 88638. Customers need to provide the UUNET call centre with information regarding three contact names and numbers and a escalation schedule to be used during office hours, as well as three contact names and numbers to be used outside of business hours to ensure the service is activated," adds Bruyns-Haylett.
