Venture Computer, one of the few true hardware distributors in South Africa, today announced that it had been appointed a distributor for Compaq with immediate effect. In addition to serving the channel on the commodity desktop and mobile product lines, Venture will differentiate its offering to and through the enterprise and solutions channel. To this end, a dedicated Compaq Enterprise team has been set up at Venture Computer under the leadership of Venture Director Walter Mech.
"Prior to the acquisition of Digital Equipment Corporation by Compaq, Venture were the sole distributors of Digital PCs as well as the Digital Alpha based NT systems", said Walter Mech. "This experience has allowed us to tune our new efforts more appropriately for the Compaq product set".
"This announcement complements our other product distribution capabilities that include being the sole distributor for Lexmark International", added Richard Fearon, sales and marketing director at Venture; "but unlike the other Compaq distributors, Venture Computer will not be offering competing products to Compaq in this marketplace".
