Venture second in Alpha Servers!

Johannesburg, 05 Mar 1999

Venture Computer today announced that for the last quarter of 1998, South Africa came second only to Germany, in the sales of NT Alpha servers throughout the Europe, Middle East and East Africa (EMEA) region.

These results only take SA sales into consideration and do not include Venture`s exports to the rest of Africa.

"This is a major achievement by Venture Computer, who is the exclusive distributor for Alpha servers in South Africa on behalf of Compaq Computers," commented Richard Fearon, the sales and marketing director at Venture.

"Venture Computer has a dedicated and highly trained team for this activity, and all credit must go to them for this wonderful achievement," continued Fearon.

According to Walter Mech, technical director at Venture, Alpha sales have picked up tremendously. He believes this is due to an increased focus in the ERP market and last year`s movement into the mid-range server market.

"Last year saw a change in the way people looked at Alpha Servers. The market grew from .3% to something like 1.6% during the year so there is definitely growth.

"Last year we brought in 59 mid-range servers. We are looking to double it this year by bringing in more than a hundred mid-range servers this year."
