Direct market firm Verimark has appointed South African e-tailer Kalahari.net to handle its direct fulfillment business online, while Kalahari`s sister company, Nasboek Clubs, will add Verimark products to its catalogues.

Kalahari.net reports that this is the first time direct response TV marketing is being combined with database-driven direct marketing used by Kalahari and Nasboek Clubs. Verimark distributes products largely through its chains of stores and other retailers, and while the company sells products online, it says online sales are relatively small.

Verimark CEO Mike van Straaten says the company believes that with existing market conditions and the right company supporting online marketing and fulfillment, this market could grow significantly, as well as allow Verimark to retain focus on its area of expertise - finding and developing innovative products.

Verimark says it expects that the deal will substantially boost its online and direct marketing revenues this year and open up an entirely new market, increasing its ability to offer direct fulfillment services to its customers.

Hein Pretorius, GM of Kalahari.net and Nasboek Clubs, says: "The hybrid nature of this deal offers not only top-level expertise in online and cataloguing, but also a wide market of customers already and converted to the online and direct fulfillment shopping model."

Van Straaten says: "We value the fact that Kalahari is driven by the same consumer-focused ethic. Our customers feel confident about the quality of our product and the reliability of our guarantee, and we could never work with anyone who wasn`t as committed to this as ourselves. In addition, Kalahari.net`s full compliance with the newly-signed ECT Act ensures total safety and security for our customers when purchasing products."
