VERITAS Software SA is launching a channel incentive programme based on the bundling of VERITAS Backup Exec and VERITAS Manage Exec.
The product bundle offers a Y2K data storage management and network monitoring solution that allows users to restore information as it was before the millennium changeover, should hassles occur.
"Our channel partners can take advantage of this special offer which we expect to boost sales into the SME market," says Nick van Noordwyk, regional manager, Middle East and Africa at VERITAS Software SA.
The incentive programme will run parallel to a promotion by VERITAS Software for distributors and resellers who sell the most bundles every month over the next three months. VERITAS Software will also help clients develop data protection strategies as they take advantage of the offer.
"The bundled package on offer will also alert the IS manager to possible problems before they occur as well as monitoring the health of servers and reporting on several areas of the server, from hardware issues to operating system issues and finally application issues," says van Noordwyk.
He adds: "While most companies may already have a bevy of Y2K rectification packages The last product to ensure full protection is a backup product with a good backup strategy to match. This will help to protect the most valued assets of your business, your data in the case of a problem".
"At the same time it will be of great assistance to any IS manager to know before-hand that a possible problem is developing. In many cases during the next couple of years, Y2K issues will surface as staff uses certain applications in ways that have not been thought of or not previously checked. This will cause applications and data to behave erratically," says van Noordwyk.
Van Noordwyk stresses that this is not a Y2K fix, but a monitoring and protection solution, that will inform users if and when problems arise, and allow them time to rectify those problems.
