Outgoing Veritas Software SA country manager Dave Reddy has rubbished rumours linking him to a black economic empowerment (BEE) company.

Chris Boorman, Veritas vice-president of marketing for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, announced at a media conference last month that Reddy had resigned.

Reddy, who leaves the company at the end of this month, has declined to reveal his reason for resigning saying, "It is a personal reason that I cannot divulge to the public."

He says working for Veritas was a "great experience" but believes it is now time for him to broaden his horizons. "It is about time Veritas takes a different direction in terms of its style of leadership, development and marketing, locally and in Africa."

Reddy describes his stay at Veritas as "challenging and very rewarding" and he says he is glad he had the opportunity to build the Veritas channel programme, as well as establish its services.

Reddy denies rumours linking him to a BEE company, saying he will now look at what is available for him before he commits himself to any company.

Nick Wonfor is acting country manager.
