VERITAS Software Corporation and Hewlett-Packard Company have partnered to provide HP MyCD, new CD-burning software targeted at consumers who want to quickly and easily burn custom CDs.
"HP has developed a strong relationship with VERITAS Software to offer innovative software options for the broadening base of HP CD-Writer customers," says Christy Tappy, information-appliances marketing manager for HP`s Personal Storage Solutions Division. "Through this relationship, HP had the unique opportunity to work with VERITAS Software in developing HP MyCD from the ground up as a customer-friendly CD-mastering application that would meet the evolving needs of our customer base."
The software was developed based on market research generated by both companies and conducted with current HP CD-Writer customers. This research showed that customers wanted a simple, streamlined and reliable approach to burning custom CDs. Written with user-friendly key words and easy-to-navigate buttons, HP MyCD makes the CD-recording process quick and simple
According to in-house testing from both companies, HP MyCD eliminates many of the problems that customers have experienced in the CD-burning process. For example, the reduced incidence of buffer under-runs in CD-Writer drives that perform at 8x write speed or less means that customers are less likely to end up with an unusable CD, commonly known as a coaster.
HP MyCD will be included, free of charge, with the entire line of HP CD-Writers. Available wherever brand-name computer equipment and consumer electronics are sold, the new HP CD-Writer product line is available now.
Nick van Noordwyk, regional director Middle East and Africa at VERITAS Software, says: "This is a great opportunity for us to become more involved in providing management software for CD media. HP CD-Writer drives provide a one-box solution for users who want to create custom CDs. CD-Writers provide a high-performance and versatile way for customers at all levels of expertise to store and share digital images and music, and to protect their critical documents simply and quickly."
Additional functions of the drives offer the versatility to do the following: * store and organise MP3 files and convert them into music tracks that can be used on other CD players;
share and store digital images, including valuable scanned family documents;
archive and share digital photography;
create personalised CD labels and jewel-case covers; and
back up and organise critical business and personal data files to conserve hard-drive space.
